Privacy policy.

Who we are

This site is operated by Shun Kai USA. It is the official website for Shun knives and cutlery. Our postal address is 18600 SW Teton Ave, Tualatin, OR 97062, USA. For privacy questions, email info@shun-cutlery.com.

What we collect

We collect only what you choose to send us or what is needed to run the site:

• Contact details. If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, selected topic, and message so we can reply.
• Correspondence. If you email or call us, we keep the information needed to answer your question, including order details you share.
• Technical data. Our web host may record standard server logs such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and time of visit for security and reliability.

We do not ask for payment details on this site. Purchases are completed at shop.shun-cutlery.com/buy, where the checkout privacy terms apply.

How we use it

• To answer your message and provide customer service.
• To handle sharpening and warranty requests.
• To keep the site secure, available, and working correctly.
• To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use your contact details for advertising, and we do not add you to a marketing list because you sent a support message.

Cookies and local storage

This site uses one local storage entry to remember whether you accepted or declined the cookie notice. That choice stays in your browser and is not sent to us. We do not set advertising cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics on this site.

You can clear the choice at any time through your browser settings. The cookie notice will appear again on your next visit. Blocking local storage does not prevent you from reading the site or contacting us.

Sharing

We share information only when it is needed to run the site or answer your request: with our web host and email provider, with professional advisers where required, or with authorities when the law requires it. We do not share personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

Retention

We keep contact messages for as long as needed to resolve the question and maintain a record of the service we provided. Order and warranty records are kept for the period required by law and by the terms of the Limited Lifetime Warranty. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.

Your choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to a particular use. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

To make a request, email info@shun-cutlery.com. We may ask for enough information to confirm your identity before acting. We do not charge a fee for a reasonable request.

Security

We use standard technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold. No website or email system is completely secure. If you believe your information has been compromised, contact us so we can investigate.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site or the law changes. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version. Material changes will be described on this page.
